TOKYO, January 11, 2019 ― PHC Corporation (hereafter PHC), a wholly-owned subsidiary of PHC Holdings Corporation (headquarters: Tokyo, Japan), announces PharnesV software for health insurance pharmacies incorporating the DrugstarLead (*1) face-to-face medication information system.

PharnesV is dedicated software for insurance pharmacies that aims to make a pharmacist's work more efficient, enhance healthcare services for patients, and support pharmacy management. It allows pharmacists to quickly obtain the latest information on medications via network services. It also makes it possible for them to provide medication instructions for patients in an easy to understand manner by giving them medication bags with medication photos printed on them and including medication information forms also with photos.

Newly incorporating DrugstarLead, a face-to-face medication information system, PharnesV aims to further promote patient medication adherence. With this new feature, currently prescribed medication as well as previous medication information is displayed together with photos in a parallel arrangement. This enables pharmacists to explain medication changes to patients in a visually easier to understand manner. In addition, because PharnesV lets forms with the medication change information and pharmacist's guidance be printed out, patients and their families can also check the changed content at home. This enables the pharmacies to contribute to safer and more reliable medication treatment as well as strengthen the role of family pharmacies.

PHC offers value-added products and services for its three core businesses—Medical Devices, Healthcare IT, and Life Sciences. This new product will expand the PHC Healthcare IT business product lineup for health insurance pharmacies.

Takayuki Otsuka, head of the Medical Information Systems (Medicom*2) Division said, "It was back in 1972 that our company launched Japan's first medical-receipt computing system. Since then, we have leveraged our accumulated experience and knowhow to underscore our commitment to provide leading-edge healthcare IT solutions. Focusing on medical institutions covering clinics, PHC aims to strengthen its presence in the broader market, including nursing homes and pharmacies, and build a next-generation medical solution platform in the near future. We hope PharnesV now incorporating DrugstarLead will serve as a solution to enhance medication instructions by pharmacists, increase patient understanding of prescribed medications and further promote medication adherence to contribute to healthcare quality improvement."
