TOKYO, June 22, 2018 ― PHC Corporation (hereafter PHC), a wholly-owned subsidiary of PHC Holdings Corporation (headquarters: Tokyo, Japan) announces its HealthCare Note Service*1 wins a Special Award at the 5th Healthcare Industry Development Contribution Grand Prix.

Founded in 2013 by the Organization to Promote Healthcare and Medical Device Industry in K (Q) yushu (HAMIQ), the Healthcare Industry Development Contribution Grand Prix recognizes exceptional organizations and companies that make outstanding contributions to society for extended healthy life expectancy through medical device and service development as well as manufacturing. Launched for insurance pharmacies in 2014, PHC’s HealthCare Note Service enables unified management of personal health information, such as medication dosage and blood pressure monitoring on a smartphone platform. By sending prescriptions to pharmacies beforehand via smartphones, the app reduces patient wait times at pharmacies. By sharing health information between patients and pharmacists, the app helps pharmacists provide appropriate health advice regarding patient lifestyle and practice better drug therapies, including medication adherence instructions. This service was recognized as a progressive and ubiquitous social service, as well as being a promising business model expected to keep expanding in the future. It resulted in PHC winning a special award for the “Contribution to New Business Creation for Service/Product” category this time.

The number of HealthCare Note Service users shows steady growth. More than 2,000 pharmacies have introduced this service over the past 4 years, with the HealthCare Note Service app for smartphone being downloaded some 160,000 times by this June.

Takayuki Otsuka, head of the Medical Information Systems (Medicom*2) Division said, "It was back in 1972 that our company launched Japan's first medical-receipt computer. Since then, we have leveraged our accumulated experience and knowhow to underscore our commitment to provide leading-edge healthcare IT solutions. Aiming to build a next-generation medical solution platform, PHC will contribute to healthcare quality improvement by connecting patients and pharmacists via a network and providing convenient, easy-to-use solutions for pharmacists to facilitate patient health management.”
