TOKYO, August 6, 2020 - PHC Corporation (headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo) today announces the launch of the LabAlert PRO*1 Cloud-Based Remote Monitoring System for efficient and convenient monitoring of facilities and equipment used for the pharmaceutical/sample storage in pharmaceutical companies, laboratories, and medical institutions in Japan.

At present, there is a rise in both ongoing drug development research for diverse medical needs, such as vaccines for infectious diseases and specialty pharmaceuticals for cancer and rare diseases, and other research aimed at developing novel advanced therapies, such as cell therapy. These areas of research require more rigorous quality assurance and information management that are compliant with GMP*2 and GDP*3 guidelines, reduced risk by protecting valuable samples from damage caused by inappropriate storage environments, and more efficient monitoring of facilities and equipment used for storing pharmaceuticals/samples at research facilities and medical institutions.

Via the internet, the newly launched LabAlert PRO will connect to life sciences equipment such as ultra-low temperature freezers and CO2 incubators, and to servers storing monitored data and user sites. This cloud-based system monitors the operational status of equipment, such as interior temperatures, CO2 concentration levels, and door opening frequency, and saves the data automatically on a cloud-based server. This minimizes server management tasks such as operating system updates and backing up of data, and also provides real-time remote monitoring of site equipment through mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets. Since there is no limitation*4 on the number of devices or facilities this new product can connect, it flexibly responds to different needs ranging from monitoring specific equipment to centralized management of large-scale facilities with 50+ units of equipment. In addition, connecting with the PHC Corporation’s life sciences equipment allows monitoring and setup adjustments through sensor-free digital connection, helping to reduce contamination risk for research environments.
