Announcing PHC Group Environment, Health and Safety Policy
Each year on June 5, we celebrate World Environment Day as a chance to raise awareness of our relationship to the environment and reflect on the importance of conservation. PHC Group also celebrates June as Environment Month to raise awareness and promote sustainability activities.
This January, the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) released a report showing that the global average temperature in 2023 was the highest ever observed. As a society, we increasingly face extreme heat waves, droughts, and other unprecedented extreme weather events and natural disasters in many parts of the world, which will have significant impacts on society, the economy, and other areas*1. Considering this reality, PHC Group is accelerating our efforts to reach carbon neutrality, which we have targeted to achieve by 2040.
To celebrate World Environment Day, we are pleased to announce that PHC Group has updated the environmental policy outlining our overall approach to climate change, preservation of natural resources, and circularity.
This new Environmental, Health and Safety Policy explains the principles of our activities related to environmental sustainability, from compliance with environmental laws and regulations to voluntary efforts to set and monitor environmental targets. We will also strive to continuously improve our environmental performance by promoting climate change countermeasures, effective use of resources, and waste reduction. In addition, we commit to clarifying our specific responsibility structure across our businesses, engaging in company-wide efforts to achieve these targets, and building greater dialogue with our external stakeholders about our intended impact.
