PHCbi TwinGuard ULT Freezers

Ultimate security is critical for extremely valuable samples, such as those in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sector, research institutes, or blood and tissue banks. In the event of freezer failure, swift and effective action is required to transfer precious samples to a safe ultra-low temperature environment—often within hours, even during the night.

Any failure significantly increases the risk of losing unique, irreplaceable, or potentially life-saving samples, potentially halting research, delaying medical treatments, or causing substantial financial and administrative impact. To greatly reduce this risk, PHCbi developed its proprietary Dual Cooling technology.

TwinGuard ULT freezers deliver an unparalleled level of safety by using two fully independent refrigeration systems. Even if one cooling circuit fails unexpectedly, the second system reliably maintains an ultra-low temperature environment. First introduced in 2010 with the MDF-U500VX, and later expanded with the MDF-U700VX TwinGuard -86°C Freezer, this technology has since proven its value for customers storing highly sensitive and pathogenic samples worldwide.

Unparalleled performance

Dual Cooling technology differs fundamentally from conventional cascade refrigeration systems. Two completely independent auto-cascade refrigeration circuits—each with its own compressors, evaporators, and cooling fans—operate separately to ensure maximum reliability. If one circuit fails, the other maintains temperatures in the -70°C range until service can be arranged, a level of back-up performance that conventional cascade systems cannot achieve. Strategically positioned evaporator circuits surrounding the storage chamber further ensure exceptional temperature uniformity, whether one or both systems are in operation.
